Pennsylvania students fight PHL airport expansion

About a hundred students and community members rallied against the expansion of Philadelphia International Airport, according to a report in the Delaware County Daily Times.

Students organized a group called Save Our Swamps (S.O.S.), to prevent the demolition of 72 homes and 80 business, and the filling in of 23 acres of waterways and 24.5 acres of the Delaware River, leading to a loss of 82 acres of wetlands.

According to the Times, it would also saddle the Interboro School District with $1.9 million in annual losses by removing 5% of annual real estate revenue.
